The most apparent problem we found was that we needed an extra hand to change our little ones. Soon, the “Baby Bundle” was born-- a quick and easy answer to grabbing the things we needed to change a diaper with only one hand! The baby bundle has been designed with the “Huggies” and “Pampers” brand soft wipes in mind; it is machine washable in cold and can be lined dried!
Next, we needed a solution to make feeding a baby on the go easy and hassle-free. The “Let’s do Lunch Bag” was our solution. Spoons, food, bibs and even crackers fit in the bag with convenient pockets for the eating utensils. When our babies are done with their meal, our purses never become messy. All of the leftover food and utensils go right back into the bag, which is lined in vinyl-- no leaking and easy to clean, it is machine washable in cold and can be lined dried .
After we had our necessities, we knew our little mammas needed treasures of their own. We decided to create ponchos. Beginning with felting recycled wool sweaters, we were inspired to create our own designs out of our new favorite material. With the added hand stitching that resembled a child’s handwriting the poncho was the perfect must have that could truly feel like their own. These ponchos can be hand washed and line dried.
The more shopping we did for hair accessories the more tired we got of the ribbon bows. We wanted a one of a kind hair accessory we loved the idea of modern designs with a vintage twist. We soon realized that using simple designs with intricate cuts created a truly unique hair clip or headband.
Giving gifts at a young girl’s birthday party can sometimes be tricky. To solve this dilemma we began to design our one of a kind sash complete with a wool felt flower to attach the ends. The perfect way to complete and customize any gift we have hand stitched the words, birthday girl, princess, Barbie or the child’s name for the most personal gift.
Frustrated with towels bunching and tilting our baby car seats we knew another creation had to be made. A simple pad to fit underneath the chair along with 3 additional pockets at the end of the pad that hang over the edge to hold baby essentials like diapers, a change of clothing and extra pacifiers were created. Feeling like something was missing we also included loops to both sides of the pad to keep sippy cups and toys close to the child and easy for the parent to retrieve when needed. When needed the pad can be removed and washed in cold and lined dried.
We began giving our handmade treasures as gifts at baby showers and birthday parties were flattered that all of the guests went wild over them. It was suggested at the parties that we sell our creations in boutiques. We first set up a shop on Etsy.com. There we received positive feedback about our products and were graciously chosen to have one of our felted tops on the main Etsy page as a “Hand Picked Item”. We have since been featured on www.ordinarylife.com, www.fromdatestodiapers.com, www.mommymandy.com, http://parentswithstyle.blogspot.com, and have been featured as a, “mega review” on www.themommiesunited.com. We are growing fast and have been extremely fortunate to have found a passion that uses both Sarah’s Fashion Design and Marketing degree and Buffy’s inherent creativity.
